Penn State NiTTany Lion ... Graduation Gift ... one-of-a-kind

I am now living with an entire family of Penn State fanatics.  Two are alumni, one has just finished his Sophomore year AND one is graduating in just a few weeks!  I'm not even going to bother listing all of the other family members and family of family that have graduated over the past 20 years.  We don't have enough time or space.  Let's just say I was the only one to venture off to a small liberal arts college in Bethlehem, Pa. ... Moravian College.  

I digress ...

I would like to introduce you to Nittany.  The first EVER BuTT UgLee Penn State Nittany lion.

You have no idea how hard it was to create this bad boy.  A regular lion is no big deal.  Heck ... (you all know I really wanted to say Hell.) his fully painted lion body sat around for weeks ... yes ... WEEKS!  The pressure to make him a NITTANY lion was crushing.  When you think about living in a home that lives and breaths Penn State you probably get the picture.  

The decision was finally made ... I would create the classic Penn State scarf and tie that sucker around his neck and pop on a BuTT UgLee tag.  Sure ... no problem!  NOT!  I had to torture myself and create the scarf out of muslin instead of buying a simple blue and white ribbon.  Blah ... Blah ... Blah ... what a whinny butt.  I loved it!  It also makes me feel much better creating all of the extra details out of muslin whenever I can.  Muslin rocks!  It also adds to the handcrafted appeal.

Did you see his WHISKERS!  So cool!  I took black floss and pulled a few threads through, then anchored them with a tiny bit of glue.  I love them.  The back of NiTTany looks as cool as the front.  It has the same wave of polka dots.  I don't add the dimensional paint to the back because it may get tacky and stick to the wall.  We don't want to that.

There are plans to make more NiTTany lions.  Remember they make great gifts for your student, graduate, alumni or TAILGATE!  Each NiTTany is a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted, whimsical work of art.
