I toLd You ...

I told you she was BIG.

I told you she followed me everywhere.

Here is the proof.  

I was taking photos of a canvas I was working on when my shadow found just the right spot on the floor.

She started out at least 5-6 inches further back then you see in the photo.

She slowly creeps up as if I'm not going to notice.

I could barely get the canvas in the shot so I decided it was best to get her in the photo as well.

This is what I deal with every day... for every Uglee created ... for every photo.

 

In this second shot I called her name.  You can see she turned and posed perfectly for the photo.

So much for the canvas.  

UgLee's Abducted!

It appears that at least 8 UgLee's were abducted from the studio this morning.  Photos of their escapades were plastered all over my sister's Facebook.  

Even the cat feels violated. 

And here I thought I was "a few crayons short of a full box."  I think she's too excited about the Steeler's game tomorrow.

Briefcase ProJect UpDate!

Today I was able to start the first side.  I knew exactly what I wanted here ... one of my favorite quotes By John Wayne.  I painted the background blue on blue polka dots to give it a nice strong back ground.  Then I started with the horse.  I knew I wanted it on the bottom right so I started with his buTT.  By starting with his buTT I couldn't really mess things up and run out of room.  All I needed was to work over to my left.  Horses are so much freakin' fun to draw.  I love the nose and jaw line the most.  When I attach the mane I just go crazy!!  

After the horse is complete and ready for paint I pencil in the quote.  It is not meant to look perfect.  I rarely go back and make changes or adjust letters.  I prefer a random approach.  The next step is to grab a black sharpie and go over all of the pencil marks.  

This gives me one last chance to give the letters an even more reckless look.  Once the sharpie ink is dry I go over everything with a big erase and get rid on the unsightly pencil marks.  Here is what it looks like this morning. 

The photos below give you a pretty good idea of the process I use to tackle a new project.  It all starts with a sketch and a few color choices.  You have no idea how hard it is to pic the perfect colors.  There are projects/characters that I have to postpone for weeks because I can not make a decision on the STUPID colors!!

 

 

 

 
 
 I plan on getting more of the horse painted today.  The bottom and one of the sides will be all polka dots ... duh.

BuTT UgLee Project Continues ... Briefcase and More!

It looks like I got a bit carried away this time.  

The weather here in Colorado has been quite fabulous, so I grabbed some black Gesso ... what I thought was just a little ... and headed to the patio.  

I finished the final five panels that needed to be prepped and ended up with almost half of the Gesso left. 

  

I looked around and grabbed an old stool ... I covered that.  

I looked around some more and covered a small wooden box AND the sweetest mini doll park bench.

Thank God I ran out ... I was looking at the throw pillows next.

Here is a photo of what I was able to cover with approximately 1 1/2" of Gesso.
